This course equips learners with the knowledge and tools to contribute to safer, more inclusive research and academic environments, whether on campus or in the field.

This course will be continuously updated with new modules that cover other pertinent topics. If you have an idea for a new topic, please share it via our “Submit Your Content Ideas” tool.

Preventing and Responding to Harassment and Bullying in Academia

This module discusses how to help prevent harassment and bullying in academic and other workplaces. It describes how to support targets of harassment, report harassment, and find support.​ It also explains your roles and responsibilities in making the workplace safer and more inclusive for everyone.

Safer Research Environments: In the Field and Off-Site

This module examines the harms of typical fieldwork culture and provides a holistic view of field safety, including workplace culture, harassment, and diversity ​and inclusion.​ It also addresses how to create a safer and more inclusive field culture by creating inclusive codes of conduct and policy, developing inclusive field infrastructure and field planning, and responding to harassment ​and bullying.
